SAISA Volleyball Tournaments
The weekend of Oct 25-25, 2017 was exciting for our SAISA volleyball teams. The boys volleyball team traveled to Lincoln School, Kathmandu and the girls’ volleyball team played at Overseas School, Colombo.
Boys Volleyball, Nepal - Mike Larios, Coach
The boys played some amazing Volleyball this tournament in Kathmandu. We came in 2nd in our pool only losing to the defending champions Lincoln school, while beating the eventual 3rd place finisher Karachi American School. Day two in the quarter finals we lost a tough 3 set match to a much improved ACS team that knocked us out of the finals pool. Playing for 5th place in the afternoon, we again played a tough 3 set match and lost to Chennai which put us in 6th place. Overall, the boys played some of the best volleyball of the year and represented TAISM with skill, determination and enthusiastic spirit. We will come home with our heads held high knowing we did the best we could in a very competitive 2018 SAISAVolleyball Tournament.
Girls Volleyball, Sri Lanka - Effie Stone, Coach
Even though the results aren’t what the team was hoping for we gained valuable experience every time we were on the court. The girls did a great job keeping each other motivated and developed team cohesion. Although disappointed in not making it to the top four teams vying for the championship the TAISM girls played hard in all their matches. The girls were very proud of how they played and came together as a team. They were definitely exhausted having played 12 matches in 3 days, but the girls wouldn’t want it any other way. Overall we were really proud of the growth in both their volleyball skills and knowledge of the game.
