Dvita Kapadia - Class of 2018

My curiosity for science was shaped by TAISM. In Chemistry class, Mr. Kelly told us that even though our fingers are “touching” they couldn’t really touch because our skin is coated with electrons. I remember leaving that class fascinated, obsessed and constantly pressing my fingers together - thinking /wow/ the physical world we live in, and the capacity of our bodies is so incredible. I am now a Neuroscience PhD student at Washington University in St. Louis. I am interested in discovering ways in which environmental factors, such as stress, change your neuronal genome. TAISM’s engaging science education - from eating M&Ms to simulate evolution, to performing cool experiments for the elementary class - made me the curious scientist I am today.
