Noor Al Kharusi – TAISM Class of 2022

At TAISM, we take pride in seeing our alumni thrive in their chosen paths, making meaningful contributions to the world. One such alumna is Noor Al Kharusi, a Class of 2022 graduate, whose passion for international relations and law has shaped her academic and professional journey.
A Passion for Global Affairs
Currently pursuing a Master of Arts (Hons) in International Relations and International Law at the University of Edinburgh, Noor is spending a year abroad at American University in Washington, D.C. Her interest in global affairs was sparked at a young age, fueled by a deep sense of justice and curiosity about world conflicts. Weekly discussions with her father about political issues further ignited her desire to understand and contribute to international relations.
The TAISM Experience: Building a Strong Foundation
Reflecting on her time at TAISM, Noor credits the school for providing her with the tools and confidence to engage in international settings. She recalls joining the Model United Nations (MUN) team at age fifteen, where she was inspired by older students and mentors who embodied confidence, public speaking skills, and a passion for solving global issues.
“TAISM helped me develop the courage to speak up, articulate my thoughts, and turn words into action. The leadership opportunities through MUN and Student Council (STUCO) gave me the foundation I needed to succeed in my field.”
A Path Toward Diplomacy
Noor’s passion for diplomacy has been further strengthened through hands-on experiences. She has completed internships at the Omani Embassy in London and the Foreign Ministry of Oman, where she had the opportunity to represent her country while engaging with international diplomats. These experiences reaffirmed her commitment to global affairs and deepened her appreciation for Oman’s diplomatic approach based on dialogue, tolerance, and non-intervention.
“The most rewarding aspect of my studies is the exposure to diverse cultural and political perspectives. Moving away from Oman has only strengthened my love for my country and its foreign policy. My studies have allowed me to explore a broad range of global issues, including environmental sustainability, international trade, maritime law, and transnational commercial law.”
Advice for Future TAISM Graduates
Noor encourages current students and younger alumni to embrace challenges and step outside their comfort zones.
“Trust your gut and stay true to your values. Take initiative, be curious, and do not fear rejection. Joining clubs and pushing myself to engage in new activities at TAISM helped build my confidence. You do not have to have everything figured out at eighteen—this is the time to explore, make mistakes, and grow.”
A Future in Global Affairs
With a clear vision for the future, Noor continues to explore ways to contribute to diplomacy and international law. Her journey is a testament to the power of curiosity, perseverance, and the foundation built during her time at TAISM.
We are proud to celebrate Noor’s achievements and look forward to seeing where her passion for global affairs takes her next!
