About TAISM

Sustainability at TAISM

From harnessing the power of photovoltaic solar panels, to using only treated recycled water for all irrigation, TAISM strives to be a positive impact on the natural environment we call home.

What does it mean for a school to be a "Contributing Community Member?"

At TAISM, one of our Learner Profile attributes that we teach and encourage in all students is "Contributing Community Member". We reflect this attribute as a school in the decisions we make that impact our environment. As role models for our students, we are constantly finding new ways to implement new technologies and initiatives to make less of an environmental footprint and more positive change through our campus in Oman.

TAISM has approximately 17,500 sqm of natural grass fields irrigated with treated recycled water.  With the largest grassy area of any international school in Oman, we are reducing the heat island effect as a green oasis in our capital city.  Encouraging sustainable practices from natural ventilation in cooler months to reusable water bottles is part of our sustainable programming.

The MS Eco Club

The MS Eco Club formed in March 2023 with students from different grades who care about the environment and sustainability. In April 2023, right in time for Earth Day, they launched a t-shirt drive to make reusable shopping bags, and to raise awareness about the harm of plastic shopping bags.

The MS Eco Club hopes to continue learning about new ways to be sustainable while teaching their peers about how they can be better for the environment.
