A Day in the Life of a TAISM Middle Schooler

Halfway into the year, a few weeks through the second semester, we are given a perfect opportunity to dive into the interesting yet simple lives of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Allowing us to experience both the energy along with the endless enthusiasm in a normal MS day.

To start, for many middle schoolers, including myself, a typical day in the MS revolves around countless, while significant, academic and social aspects. These two essential pillars of Middle School come together to build our hard-working peers along with the presence of a well integrated community- leading to a joy-filled atmosphere.

Being an MS student means finding a balance between the two. This means focusing on being the best learner you can be, for example, staying up to date with assignments and actively participating, while on the other hand, also creating memorable experiences with friends and trying out new things.

For me, strolling through the hallways with friends at lunch or working together to build puzzles in the MSLC is definitely what brightens my day. For a lot of others, what makes their day special, includes MS wide football matches during lunch, hanging around in the MS before 8:30, stopping at teachers’ classrooms, checking out books from the MSLC, playing UNO in the YOC and much, much more.
For Eighth grade student Ransom, a prominent part of his day is usually “his friends” or some of his favorite classes like, “Social Studies or Learning Support” because he feels passionate about them.

Events that stand out the most in classes in the MS, vary from student to student. For many, a spotlight of their day can be valuable learning experiences, whether it be a hands-on experiment in science or a debate in social studies. Conversely, for others, it might be something more calming like Independent Reading in L.A or Mindfulness in Health.

In short, showcasing how Middle Schoolers manage to make every single day thrilling and unique and that no matter the occasion, it doesn't take a lot for us MS students to enjoy the insignificant moments, always finding a way to overcome challenges.
The perseverance that we bring to Middle school, really exhibits the spirit of our Eagles and how a sprinkle of passion and just the presence of your friends can transform a normal school day into something way more fantastic.
