The philosophy of the High School Community Service program at TAISM is to foster civic responsibility for the benefit of the community. Through this service, students develop skills, career awareness and self-esteem. The intent of the program is to encourage students to be active and engaged members of their communities, and to address important community issues. Throughout the year, the students are involved in several organizations, some long-term and others, solitary events. High School community service is currently involved with the following organizations:
- Dar Al Atta
- Lets Read Program, Dar Al Atta
- Oman Cancer Association
- Oman Down Syndrome Association
- Royal Hospital
- Free Medical Clinic
- Maharashtra State Women’s Council.
All students have a chance to give back to the community through various projects integrated into Discover Oman and the curriculum.
We are especially proud of hosting the Terry Fox Run at TAISM. It has become a special tradition in our community, raising awareness about cancer research efforts, and raising money for a very successful childhood leukemia project at Sultan Qaboos University. Each division of TAISM holds lead-up events to raise awareness and funds such as t-shirt sales, wrist band sales, coin drives, pep rallies, and the ever-popular Terry Fox Head Shave. It is a wonderful way to come together as a community to support families right here in Oman.
