With the current health and safety concerns surrounding COVID-19, The American International School of Muscat (TAISM) will be delaying the start of our Early Childhood 1 (EC1) program for 3-year-old students until January 4, 2021.
This decision was not made lightly. We believe the first day of school for your child should be full of wonder, enthusiasm and excitement. It is an important milestone and creating a smooth transition into school is vital to their emotional, social, and academic development. This is when they form their first friendships, establish trust in their teachers, and learn to feel safe in the classroom.
Our hope is that postponing the start of the EC1 program until January will minimize disruptions, and increase the likelihood of TAISM being able to offer a sustained on-campus schooling model that provides the consistency and routine that young children need to thrive.
What can you do during this time to support your child’s development and ensure they are ready to begin school in January?
- Read to your child regularly
- Help them develop spoken language skills in their heritage language
- Engage with them through playing, singing, and imaginative role-play
- Work with your child on counting skills (1-5)
As always, we are here to support you as a parent, especially through this extended preparation time. Please reach out to us with any questions you may have. We can’t wait to welcome you and your child into EC1 in January.
