TAISM Students Participate in SAISA Tournaments
TAISM had an amazing weekend from April 22-24, 2017 when three teams were sent to travel and compete in the South Asia Inter-School Association (SAISA) tournaments. All of TAISM can be proud of what the teams accomplished, and the hard work, dedication, teamwork and love of sport that were on full display.
The Boys Basketball team traveled to Kathmandu, Nepal. They were able to bring two extra players to compete on a combined SAISA team. The TAISM team were placed in a highly competitive pool and played hard throughout the round robin. They played well but were unable to make it into the final tournament bracket. On the last day, the boys continued to put together some impressive basketball and came away with a seventh place finish. The way the boys handled the adversity and persevered throughout the weekend was noteworthy.
The MS/HS Track and Field team traveled to Colombo, Sri Lanka. The three day meet was intense, starting at 7 a.m. and sometimes finishing after sunset. Our students participated in many events and exhibited strong performances including new SAISA records. They showed much improvement throughout the course of the season which continued into the SAISA weekend. All the efforts and hard work paid off and the track and field team finished with an impressive second place team trophy.
The Girls Soccer team traveled to Mumbai, India. Six additional girls were invited to play on a combined SAISA team. It was a great experience for all involved. The TAISM team was impressive during pool play conceding just one goal during the entire tournament. With each game the girls successfully surged ahead and ended with a triumphant victory against Lincoln School to win the championship game 1-0, bringing home the first place trophy.
It was indeed a unique experience for our students who were able to play on the combined SAISA teams. It shows true courage and risk-taking to go into the SAISA Tournament. They were able to work together, have fun and compete at a higher level. Kudos to the TAISM teams!!
We are very proud of the student athletes and coaches. They truly represented the mission of TAISM school. We congratulate them on a successful season and SAISA tournament. They certainly “DO TAISM PROUD!”
