SAISA Track and Field Event at TAISM
The weekend of April 23-25, 2015, was a busy one for the TAISM community as we hosted the 2015 SAISA Track and Field Championships on our campus. Over 200 student athletes and coaches arrived in Oman on Wednesday, April 22, from American International Schools in India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. They were received by their wonderful host families who ensured that they were comfortable, well rested, and ready for the tournament. The morning sessions began at 7:00 a.m. and finished by noon so the students could eat lunch and rest a while. The afternoon/evening sessions started at 4:00 p.m. and concluded at around 7:00 p.m.
Students participated in numerous individual running races and relays. There were four field events; shot put, discus, long jump, and high jump. The best part of each day was when we got together as a large group for the awards ceremony. The smiles on the faces of students up on the podium were priceless. All the hard work and dedication came together for a little moment in the spotlight. Belonging to the SAISA League allows the student athletes ample opportunities to see old friends and make new ones at each competition.
This event could not have been possible without the great support of the TAISM community, who are all an amazing group of people to work with.
