SAISA Varsity Girls Basketball Tournament in Colombo, Sri Lanka
As the TAISM Varsity Women’s basketball team marched into the gym at Overseas School Colombo for the opening ceremony, they were geared up for some tough competition over the next three days. True to their thoughts, the TAISM Eagles team comprising of six freshmen and two sophomores were immersed in an intense learning experience and ended up fourth in their group after two days of play. But despite the heat, humidity, and competition, the team’s fitness and skill levels improved with every game as they ended the tournament with a very convincing 27-8 victory over Karachi American School.
As always, the team represented TAISM with exemplary sportsmanship towards their opponents, and expressed gratitude to the community of OCS for making their stay in Colombo a memorable experience.
In sports, nothing can substitute for game experience. My wish as a departing coach is for this group of fine young women to continue to show teamwork and play basketball for the next three years, when TAISM will again be the SAISA tournament champions.
