SAISA Girls Soccer Tournament in Nepal
The Varsity Girls Soccer Team represented TAISM well in Kathmandu, and came close to earning a spot in the finals. A few inches to the left, a half of a second quicker…that describes how thin the margin was between the teams.
The TAISM Eagles started with a big victory against Lahore in their opening game on the first day. On the second day, the Eagles tied Chennai and Dhaka, coming very close to victory.
TAISM lost a close game to Lincoln School-Nepal in the semi-finals, which set them up against a local British school for the 3rd place. The team fought their way through all the bumps, scrapes, knocks and exhaustion only to finish tied 0-0 in regulation time, and it remained tied 0-0 after ten minutes of overtime. Catarina Aleixo and Karen-Anna Kolset scored their penalty kicks while Salma McElhinney came up with two big saves to finish with a dramatic 2-1 victory and earn 3rd place in the tournament.
The TAISM Eagles should be very proud of their effort which ended with a great result. This tournament has been a real step forward for the Girls Soccer program at TAISM. Well done Eagles!
