Muscat International Swimming Championships 2014

The results are in! Our TAISMite swimmers competed at the Muscat International Swimming Championships at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Stadium this past Friday and Saturday. The swimmers were competing with other schools from around the region. 

Final Results:

9 year old girls - Yunseo Kim broke her own record in the 100 meter breaststroke, dropping 7 seconds from her previous personal best.

Erin Young broke Finn’s TAISM record in the 50 meter freestyle

10 year old girls - Finn broke Luisa Lane’s record in the 100 meter freestyle by 5 seconds

Lucia Perdiguero set a new TAISM record in the 100 meter backstroke

10 year old boys - Shinjiro broke Rodrigo’s record in the 50 meter backstroke and held it for about one minute until Rodrigo swam in the next heat and got it back…..by 3 seconds over his previous personal best.

11 -13 year old girls - Virag broke Isabel Sipkema’s TAISM record in the 200 meter breaststroke by 2 seconds and her 100 breaststroke by 1 second.

11 -13 year old boys - Mark Kluknavsky broke Tollef”s TAISM record by 8 seconds in the 100 meter freestyle, broke Henk’s 50 meter freestyle by 1 second, and his own 100 butterfly record by 19 seconds!

14 -15 year old girls - Kate Phoonsiri set a new 100 meter freestyle record by 6 seconds, broke Josie’s 50 freestyle record by 1 second, and Josie’s 50 butterfly record by 1 second.

16 and over boys - Brian Teo broke his own TAISM records in these events:  400 meter freestyle, 200 meter freestyle, 100 meter freestyle, and 200 individual medley.

All in all, there were 18 new records set last weekend.  Ms. Grace and I are very proud of our swimmers’ accomplishments!
