Advanced Placement (AP) Program           International Recognition of AP           Why AP at TAISM?

International Recognition of AP

Most colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada grant course credit, advanced placement in courses, or both, to incoming students who present qualifying scores on AP Exams.

Colleges and universities in other countries vary in their approach to using AP scores. Some institutions grant course credit or advanced placement. Others admit, or view as qualified to be considered for admission, holders of the U.S. high school diploma who also present qualifying AP scores. Still others view participation in AP courses and exams as evidence that a prospective student can handle the rigors of university coursework. Finally, some institutions do not consider AP scores.

During the 2004–2005 school year, the office of the TAISM Guidance Counselor exchanged e-mail with representatives of dozens of colleges and universities located outside of the U.S., in order to learn about AP policies in various countries.

The message(s) received from each responding institution are summarized in the PDF document below:
Use of AP Exam Scores at Select Colleges and Universities Outside the U.S. 2006
