MIDDLE SCHOOL SCIENCE

GRADE 6

In science, six graders will build the foundation of their middle school science experience. The program integrates life, earth and physical sciences. Topics of study in grade six include: The nature of science, measurement, a first introduction to chemistry and physics, earth science, and animal classification.
This material is taught through hands-on inquiry-based engaging activities. Laboratory experiments, field trips and research projects are used to enhance the learning process.

GRADE 7

The grade seven science curriculum is designed to enhance student interest in science through investigating relevant material and creating a safe environment for students to investigate science. The course will continue to develop the students’ scientific processing skills through a curriculum of earth science and life science. Laboratory investigations, projects, inquiry based activities, group work, class discussions, and simulations will be the main methods used. Throughout the year, there will be further opportunities to promote student creativity and problem solving skills through in an annual Science Bonanza contest, a Question of the Quarter assignment, and the NESA Virtual Science Fair.

GRADE 8

The 8th grade science was designed to continue to enhance student interest in science through examining relevant material and creating a safe environment for students to investigate science. The course will refine the students’ scientific processing skills through a curriculum of physical science and chemistry.
